With the country’s lockdown extended until the end of April, restricting over 57-million people to their homes, Shaw Academy is offering South African’s the opportunity to earn free qualifications across a range of topics including finance, photography, health and fitness, marketing, technology, design, beauty, music, and business. All qualifications are internationally recognised and fully accredited with Shaw Academy, already seeing over a million South African’s graduate from its courses – 435,000 since the start of this year alone. This free course offer will extend to these existing students as well.
To mitigate the impact the Covid-19 lockdown has had on the school year, the SnapStudy education initiative is being made freely available to learners for a limited time. Students from both government and private schools will be allowed to access complimentary online high school courses…
James Egan, Founder and CEO of Shaw Academy, said: “With the coronavirus outbreak forcing more and more people to stay indoors, education providers like us are in a unique position to provide something that can benefit people during this difficult period. Thanks to the availability of online services, the lockdown doesn’t have to be a barrier to people wanting to focus on self-improvement during this time, and we firmly believe that education is the best way to fortify yourself ahead of the economic impact of the pandemic. That is why we are giving South African’s and people all over the world the opportunity to reskill and upskill themselves for free in these uncertain times.”
This offer to all South Africans comes following Shaw Academy’s recent expansion of its presence in the country, where it currently employs over 50 educators, and student support managers, and technical support staff, with a view to doubling this figure by the end of the year.
The specially tailored courses are built around a series of Interactive Online Classes based on practical knowledge coupled with peer-interaction and student support. Developed to be convenient and flexible, students can schedule and reschedule classes at ease and can even catch up on classes on the go – ensuring they can learn at their own pace without wasting any of their valuable time.
